Devotees of Baba Bholenath eagerly wait for Amarnath Yatra every year. This journey is highly regarded in the Hindu religion. This is the reason why every year a large number of devotees reach here for the darshan of Baba Amarnath. In this sequence, registration for booking Amarnath Yatra 2024 has started from Monday i.e. 15th April. This annual pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on June 29 this year and will continue till August 19 i.e. the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
Amarnath Yatra is considered very beneficial in Sanatan Dharma. Shiva devotees wait the whole year for Amarnath Yatra. Shivalinga is naturally formed from ice in Amarnath cave which is also known as Baba Barfani and Amareshwar. Devotees have to undertake a long journey and climb uphill to reach Amarnath shrine. According to religious belief, Shiva is present in Amarnath Dham, whose darshan brings auspicious results to the seeker.
Lakhs of Shiva devotees make the arduous journey to Amarnath to have darshan of the naturally formed Shivalinga. Amarnath Tirtha, situated at an altitude of 3,888 meters above sea level, is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites of Sanatan Dharma. The journey to Baba Amarnath is considered very difficult, despite this lakhs of devotees come here for darshan. Let us know what benefits a person can get in life by visiting Amarnath.
Significance of Amarnath Yatra
According to mythological beliefs, this is the same cave where Lord Shiva told the secret of immortality to Mother Parvati. It is believed in Hindu mythological texts that the devotee who visits the ice Shivalinga built in this holy cave with a true heart, all his sins are destroyed and he attains salvation. Along with this, it has also been said that visiting this holy place gives equivalent virtue to visiting 23 pilgrimage places.
In religious Puranas, the importance of having darshan of Amarnath is said to be so great that the virtue of having darshan of Baba Barfani is ten times more than the darshan of Linga in Kashi, 100 times more than that of Prayag and a thousand times more than that of Naimisharanya Tirtha. Not only this, by doing an Amarnath pilgrimage, a person also gets blessings of happiness and prosperity. This is the reason why devotees complete this difficult journey with full devotion and get the good fortune of having the darshan of Baba Barfani, which removes all kinds of troubles of the devotees.
According to the legend, Mahadev, the god of gods, first sacrificed Nandi. It is believed that the place where the Lord had sacrificed Nandi. That place was named Pahalgaon. After this, he sacrificed the moon. This place was named Chandanwadi. After this, he sacrificed the snake, and the place was named Sheshnag. At last Lord Shiva sacrificed his hair to Mother Ganga and that place came to be known as Panchtarni.
It is said that before going to the Amarnath cave, Lord Shiva seated Ganpati Bappa on Mahagun mountain and he was given the responsibility that no one should enter the cave during the Katha. Even today, these holy places are visited during the Amarnath Yatra.
How long will the journey last?
Amarnath temple Yatra starts from the month of Ashadha and continues till Shravan Purnima i.e. Rakshabandhan. In such a situation, in the year 2024, the Amarnath Yatra starts on the 29th of June, which is going to end on the 19th of August.
Special things about Amarnath
The height of Amarnath Shivalinga keeps increasing and decreasing, which is determined by the phases of the moon. The Shivalinga increases with the phases of the Moon and with the waning phases of the Moon the Shivalinga also decreases and becomes invisible. Along with this, along with the Himalinga darshan of Lord Shiva, Shaktipeeth of Mata Sati can also be darshan in Amarnath. Such an amazing coincidence is not seen anywhere else. In the cave, along with Baba Barfani, there is also a structure of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha.
