Things to do in Los Angeles – The City of Fairies, the path of light and flowers. Both the weather and the people here are unique. It is said that one out of every six people here is involved in artwork. The story of a journey from history to a beautiful city nestled in modernity.

Things to do in Los Angeles - The City of fairies, path of light and flowers.

We were preparing to go to Los Angeles, i.e. ‘LA’, the capital city of America, California. The intention was to see and know closely about the amazing city of this strange country. On one hand, it is the originator of modern means of entertainment, and on the other hand, it also preserves its historical civilization. Our car was moving from San Francisco on the SF Highway. There were call boxes installed every mile along the road. Rest areas, cafeteria, and restrooms are also clean and equipped with all facilities. We were doing such a long road trip in this country for the first time. The sight of the setting sun while walking enthralled all of us. On the far horizon, golden redness was spread amidst the dark blue circle and a bright orange blazing ball of fire was slowly about to set.
Night came and the surrounding small towns started glowing with lights. The queues of red-yellow lights of vehicles coming and going on the road looked very beautiful. After traveling a long distance, Mayanagari was seen. So bright that the eyes dazzle. Spread out in a semicircle highlighting the grandeur and vastness of light, its story seemed engrossed in its own color.

City of the queen of angels

Established by Spain in 1781, this city was named ‘City of the Queen of Angels’ or ‘City of Angels’ by the then Governor, glorifying the Queen of Spain. It was deep into the night. We rested there in the pre-booked hotel and left for Hollywood as soon as the surveyors got ready. The attraction that we Indians have for the big city of Mumbai and Bollywood, similarly the main attraction of visiting here is to visit Hollywood which is part of LA. To reach there we were passing through Hollywood Boulevard. Narrow roads, beautiful and flat footpaths, people strolling on them, beautiful small shops on the sides with ‘Hollywood’ written on them and also Hollywood High School for children. This was a small world in itself.

Dedicated to artists

The ‘Walk of Fame’ here is an internationally known Hollywood icon. Here, at short distances on the footpath, there were brass stars, which were quite large. The names of big Hollywood artists, famous musicians, actors, directors, and producers were inscribed on the stars. What a simply beautiful way to honor the craft of members of the American film industry. By the time it was time for lunch. There was an Indian restaurant nearby, ‘Gate of India’ where we enjoyed a hearty meal. Some Americans and Mexicans around us were also eating samosas and pakodas with taste. Nice to see that Indian food is so popular here too.

Own colony of Albelas

Now it was time for the evening walk on Hollywood Boulevard. You can also call it the Mall Road of Hollywood. It was a unique experience to spend a colorful evening here during my trip to Los Angeles. The glow of enchanting lights was creating a festive atmosphere. We reached the famous ‘El Capitan’ cinema and theater hall, whose exterior decoration we could not stop ourselves from admiring and doing appreciative photography. There was a lively and colorful scene all around. The youth performing stunts on the footpath not only attracted us but also forced us to stop. At one place, a beautiful girl wearing a long gown was playing the trumpet and along with me, some boys and girls were dancing and dancing while playing other instruments. The whole atmosphere is musical. The applause and surprised screams of the audience kept encouraging him from time to time.

A gift received by mistake

The ‘Forecourt of the Stars’ is built at the front entrance of the Chinese Theater Hall, where the floor below has the footprints of hundreds of famous Hollywood stars, along with their signatures and messages of ‘Love to All’. The tradition began during theater construction, when a veteran Hollywood star accidentally stepped on the wet cement outside the building, creating footprints. Instead of erasing the mark, theater owner Sid Grauman encouraged other Hollywood celebrities to make the same ‘mistake’. And this is how this forecourt was built. Most visitors are more interested in seeing the hand-footprints of celebrities carved in concrete on the forecourt.

Made from soil from 58 places

Made from soil from 58 places

The next day we drove through Downtown LA. This is LA’s downtown – the center of all economic activity. The skyscrapers here are its main center of attraction. Near it is the Hollywood Bowl, a huge bowl-shaped building. It is a huge auditorium where many grand functions have been organized over the years. It is also called the apocalypse of music. Located in the middle of the city is LA’s City Hall. There is a pyramid-shaped top on this grand building. In its construction, soil, sand, and water brought from all 58 counties (regions) of the state of California have been used. Seeing the City Hall from the front, my body and mind became thrilled. Like in our country, it was good to see a deep connection towards our soil in foreign countries also.

Beautiful place for Astronomy

Things to do in Los Angeles in next morning, soon after breakfast, we set off for Griffith Park. This is a huge park, where there are arrangements for walking, resting, and picnics on the green grass. You can also enjoy horse riding, biking, hiking, tennis, golf etc. It is the embodiment of Sir Griffith’s dream, where there is a huge exhibition of astronomy. After roaming around, we watched the show in the most beautiful planetarium here. The main attraction of this park is its Observatory where with the help of a telescope you can see the view of the entire LA city.
Going to see the ‘Hollywood Sign’ on the hill directly opposite the Griffith Observatory was an obsession. We reached there by car for some distance on a winding uphill road and then by walking for some distance. It was a thrilling experience for tourism lovers like us to see it from close. For tourists, this Hollywood sign is not just a word written in English letters in white color but is one of the most attractive and prestigious signs in the world, a symbol of ambition, success, and fascination. We didn’t even have to request anyone to take a group picture in front of this huge international symbol. Out of courtesy, someone himself came forward and took our photo.

Hollywood LA

Beauty cannot be expressed in words

When we got tired of roaming around in the activity-filled Los Angeles, we went to Santa Monica to take a break, just like the local people. This is one of the most romantic getaways in California, which attracts tourists like a magnet. It is known for the shooting of the television show ‘Baywatch’. Here, bathing on the beach along with surfing on the sea waves is a different pleasure. It is like heaven for pedestrians. We sat here on chairs with umbrellas and enjoyed the pleasant weather.
If you’re a fan of modern fashion, be sure to end your trip to Los Angeles with an afternoon of shopping on sleek and hip Melrose Avenue. The things available here are not affordable but are latest and unique in fashion.
In the evening we joined the Sunset Cruise trip and enjoyed indescribable. During the journey, you will get a glimpse of the fascinating private lives of Hollywood stars. The vast Bewley Gardens park has fountains and rose gardens. Lined, well-furnished luxurious buildings, flower beds laden with unknown colors, and picturesque hilly estates, seeing which give the feeling of heaven coming on earth. LA is a wonderful place to explore and enjoy a holiday.

Age doesn’t matter here

LA’s Disneyland is a theme park that was completed under Walt Disney’s supervision. After coming to this world of bliss, age stops for a while. As soon as we entered here, we started seeing Britain of the Victorian era. Houses adjacent to the main road, shops, restaurants, markets, lanes, horse-carts, stone-paved footpaths, artistic lampposts, and crossroads take you to twelfth-century Europe in no time. There are also many huge open-air theaters here. We sat in the huge open courtyard of a theater and watched the beautiful presentation of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ on a revolving stage. Also saw a heart-touching staging of ‘Aladdin Ka Chirag’ in the second theatre. Also enjoyed photography with the actors at the end.
One of the major attractions of Disneyland is the parade show held there in the evening. Characters from Walt Disney’s dream stories were present on the parade route in their unique costumes. With the tableaux of fantasy heroes and heroines, famous scenes from popular stories, groups of children dancing and singing, effigies of animals and birds, etc., the parade was going to take you to a dreamland of immense joy.

Age doesn't matter here LA

Things to do in Los Angeles in the evening, there was a colorful farewell display with fireworks in the sky over a large lake located on the campus. Finally, the monorail took us on a tour of the entire complex and we reached the exit gate after seeing a bird’s eye view of the magical world spread across Disneyland. Now the time had come to say goodbye to this beautiful place.
The weather in GLA was very pleasant. Except during the rainy season, there is bright sunshine like gold throughout the year. Some thinkers got so enamored with it that they even said, ‘If I can’t go to heaven, let me go to LA.’ After visiting LA, it would not be wrong to say that enjoying the pleasure of roaming in this dream world was a pleasant experience of our lives.
